Cove Park

18 August 2007, 9.30am-5.30pm

Cove Park is an international centre for the arts and creative industries, overlooking Loch Long on the Roseneath peninsula in the West of Scotland. Set up in 1999 by Eileen and Peter Jacobs, Cove Park offers an annual programme of residencies for artists working in all art forms, to allow them time to research new ideas and develop new projects. The 50-acre site houses artists’ accommodation (Pods and Cubes – well worth seeing in their own right) and studios.

Our proposed visit will coincide with residencies by four visual artists – Laura Aldridge (USA/Glasgow), Ilana Halperin (Glasgow), Derek Lodge (Dundee) and Tobias Sternberg (London) and two curators/critical writers – Dan Kidner (City Projects, London) and Polly Staple (Editor at Large, frieze) – who are taking part in a new six-week programme funded by the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation. In addition, the Glasgow-based sculptor/furniture designer, Steff Norwood and the Edinburgh-based ceramicist Andrea Walsh will both be here on a three-month craft residency, funded by the SAC.

Come and meet some of the artists at work in this idyllic setting, and discover more about Cove Park’s activities.

If you would like to come along, please email as soon as possible to book your place or call Helen Monaghan on 0131 624 6431. A minibus will be departing from outside the National Gallery of Scotland, Edinburgh at 9.30am to take Spin members to Cove Park. Tickets cost £15 which includes return transport, tea and coffee. Please bring a packed lunch. We expect to be back in Edinburgh at around 5.30pm.
