No sooner have we finished spinning around Glasgow city, than another great Spin event appears on the schedule! Thanks to all of you who came through last weekend. The artists that spoke with us on our travels – Sorcha Dallas, Beverley Hood, Torsten Lauschmann, Marianne Greated and Jane Topping – really enjoyed meeting you, and I am sure it won’t be long before we head back in that direction.
You might think, after such an extravaganza of art activity on the west coast last week, that we in the east were having trouble keeping our end up. Not at all. This Thursday is your opportunity to meet the young energetic artists behind Totalkunst – an impressive association of artists who have self-organised, set up a space in the Forest café, programmed a series of great exhibitions, put together a slide archive and produced a book, all in the space of a few months.
Their current show has been curated by Aurora Projects, and features works on paper by Ruth Beale and Catherine Street. Ruth and Catherine are both recent graduates who have developed really confident practices through regular exhibition in group shows all over the UK. Through Aurora Projects, Ruth recently curated a show in a flat in Marchmont. These are people to watch.
