Membership benefits
Each month Spin members are invited to view works of contemporary art, and to enjoy informal discussions between the Spin host and a guest artist, curator, critic, gallerist or art historian, over a glass of wine. No previous knowledge about contemporary art is necessary.
Membership costs £45 (£35 concessions) per year or £75 (£55 concessions) for two adults at one address. Corporate membership is available upon request.
Core benefits
- Monthly events in an exhibition at a contemporary art venue, or in an ad hoc art space or private collection, hosted by the Spin Programme Co-ordinator
- The chance to meet and chat to artists, critics and curators over a glass of wine and refreshments
- Special trips to major events in the art calendar
- Regular email bulletins about forthcoming Spin members’ events, artistic activity around Scotland and invitations to exclusive events at sister organisations
- The opportunity to invite up to three guests per year for free
- Free entry to Spin: Edinburgh events (held on the last Thursday of every month excluding August and December)
- Free entry to Spin: Glasgow events (held on the third Wednesday of every month excluding August and December)
Additional benefits
Spin-offs (an additional charge will be made)
- Extended visits in and around Edinburgh and Glasgow ranging from artists’ studios and domestic spaces, to public art works and corporate collections in private institutions
- Visits to galleries and locations across Scotland and abroad. Past Spin-Off events have included a visit to Ian Hamilton Finlay’s garden at Little Sparta (2005), Cove Park (2007), a weekend visit to the Frieze Art Fair in London (2004), an overseas trip to the Venice Biennale (2005, 2007 & 2009) and a weekend tour of the Liverpool Biennial (Nov 2006 & Oct 2008) and the Berlin Biennale (Jul 2010).
Applying for membership
- Pick up a copy of the Spin leaflet from the National Galleries and arts venues in Edinburgh or the Spin: Glasgow membership slip from arts venues in Glasgow
- Download, print out and complete the PDF membership form below, including personal details and card payment details (or else attach a cheque). Please note that Spin: Glasgow only accepts cheques
