The Venice Biennale is the oldest and most prestigious contemporary art festival in the world and was established in 1895. Held every two years, the Biennale is an excellent opportunity to see works by leading, international and up-and-coming artists. Over 70 countries take part and this year Scotland will be represented by Graham Fagen and Great Britain by Sarah Lucas. The 56th edition of this international art exhibition runs from the 9 May–22 November 2015 and this year’s director is Nigerian-born curator, art critic and writer, Okwui Enwezor – the first African director of the Venice Biennale.
Artist Graham Fagen will be talking about his work on Wednesday 20 May at 6.30pm at the Hawthornden Lecture Theatre, Scottish National Gallery.
